The BGX Year in Review

Adam Lynch

It’s the year that ended with a hissy, silent stink rather than a bang, but Black Girl Times is here to do a little cleaning and perfume spraying where needed. We’ve lined up several nine-point countdown lists to keep you busy these dark, chilly days and long nights. Why nine? We’re anticipating The Lighthouse | Black Girl Projects turning nine next year, and we figured this to be an excellent way to invite the reader to celebrate with us. Besides, lists of 10 are overdone, right?

Contrary to a lot of news outlets, we’re here to steer you away from the news and doom scrolling for a bit. We’ve talked to the entire Lighthouse team and have created lists of movies, sports, pop culture moments, books, organizational highlights, and more from this year. Plus, you get Natalie’s Annual Gift Guide.

We’ll publish these listicles along with our standard news posts throughout the month of December because this month, if any, should consist of more than just news. For the next few weeks, we want to reflect on the best of 2024, how to do better next year, and how we can get ourselves ready for the vibrant and twisted journey that’s sure to come in 2025.

This is for you, readers.
