“One Night in Miami” (Jan. 15) In this historical fiction film, Malcom X (Kingsley Ben-Adir), Cassius Clay (Eli Goree) before his name change to Muhammad Ali, Sam Cooke (Leslie Odom Jr.) and Jim Brown (Aldis Hodge) come together for a night of celebration in Miami. The four icons gather in a hotel room following one of the greatest upsets in boxing history, when Clay defeated Sonny Liston as World Heavyweight Champion in 1964.

“One Night in Miami” is based on the 2013 screenplay written by Kemp Powers (co-director of Pixar’s “Soul”) and is the directorial debut for award-winning actress Regina King. We see you, sis!

This film is an Amazon original and can be viewed on Prime Video.

“Batwoman,” season two (Jan. 17) Season two of the CW’s “Batwoman” is kicking off with some new representation. For the first time in television history, a Black woman plays “Batwoman” in the superhero series. Javicia Leslie is the new lead actress, taking the screen as Ryan Wilder, a framed ex-convict and lesbian woman who discovers the batsuit after a plane crashed near the van she lives in.

The suit initially belonged to Kate Kane (Ruby Rose), the former Batwoman, also lesbian, who went missing in the plane crash. With the city of Gotham in criminal havoc, Ryan embraces the suit and its power to help defeat crime as the new Batwoman.  Stream full episodes of “Batwoman” for free on the CW app or cwtv.com
