“Batwoman,” season two (Jan. 17) Season two of the CW’s “Batwoman” is kicking off with some new representation. For the first time in television history, a Black woman plays “Batwoman” in the superhero series. Javicia Leslie is the new lead actress, taking the screen as Ryan Wilder, a framed ex-convict and lesbian woman who discovers the batsuit after a plane crashed near the van she lives in.
The suit initially belonged to Kate Kane (Ruby Rose), the former Batwoman, also lesbian, who went missing in the plane crash. With the city of Gotham in criminal havoc, Ryan embraces the suit and its power to help defeat crime as the new Batwoman. Stream full episodes of “Batwoman” for free on the CW app or cwtv.com.
