Eye Spy: The Lighthouse Visits Portland

From the southern heat to the breezy Pacific northwest coast, The Lighthouse team recently traveled to Portland, Ore., for a work retreat. Nicknamed the City of Roses, Portland is home to the famous Blue Star donut shop (my new favorite) and the largest number of street food trucks in the United States. Upon our arrival at the airport, we were greeted by one of Portland’s many excellent Lyft drivers who were friendly and offered us suggestions on spots to see during our visit. As we made our way to the hotel, I knew this would be a great trip.

While in Portland, our staff had a friendly photography competition. There were themes chosen for each day: Black girls, street art, food, landscapes and architecture. We had the task of capturing images of the beautiful city with only our cell phones, without the use of any filters or editing apps. We became professional photographers during our visit, taking in the city with our cell phones as our eyes. We all had great pictures, but we know who was the real winner. This retreat was just what the Lighthouse team needed to motivate each other, establish new goals and rededicate ourselves to the work.

Scroll through our submissions for the week and judge for yourself which photos won!
